The 1999 MV Agusta F4 750 Serie Oro marked the revival of the iconic Italian marque in the late 1990s. Designed by legendary motorcycle designer Massimo Tamburini, the F4 was first shown in 1997 and entered limited production in 1999 with just 300 hand-built Oro examples, all pre-sold before delivery. The creation of the F4 Oro signalled MV Agusta’s return to the forefront of performance motorcycle engineering after years of dormancy.
The Oro (Italian for “gold”) lived up to its name not just in exclusivity but in materials and aesthetics: magnesium wheels, swing arm and frame side-plates with gold anodising, extensive carbon-fibre bodywork, and premium suspension helped keep the dry weight around 180 kg, giving it a finely balanced power-to-weight ratio and razor-sharp handling that enthusiasts still admire.
A 749 cc liquid-cooled inline-four engine with dual overhead cams and four valves per cylinder, fed by Weber-Marelli electronic injection brings the MV F4 from 0-100km/h in just over 3 seconds. In standard form the MV F4 produced around 126 hp at 12.500 rpm and about 74 Nm of torque, enabling a top speed in the region of 270–280 km/h. You really did not need to go any faster on a motorcycle in 1997 or now.
This particular F4 750 Oro is number 144 out of that limited run of 300. One single owner from new and a recorded 3.531km on the speedo since factory delivery. The F4 Oro was purchased new via an Italian dealership, as this was the only way for the collector to get his hands on one.
This MV Agusta F4 Oro has been cherished for all those years in a collection of high-end motorcycles, sitting next to a 1972 MV Agusta 750S. The engine has been started and run at regular intervals to keep all running parts lubricated.
The condition is like new in all respects.
The combination of artful design, exotic specification and high-revving performance has made the F4 Serie Oro a cherished classic and one of the most collectible superbikes of the 1990s. This low-mileage example is as good as it gets, and you will be hard pressed to find a better one.
