This Matchless from 1956 is a Trial motorcycle with the model designation G3LCT that I restored ten years ago to original condition.
I have ridden it a lot on the road but not in any Trial competition.
Now I have decided to sell it.

Most AJS and Matchless "Competition" were built for motocross or Enduro only a few were made for Trial, so this Matchless is a rare one.
Everything on this Matchless has been refurbished. The wheels have new spokes and rims, the aluminium mudguards are new and of the correct profile, the license plate holder and taillight are new, new Dunlop rubber saddle, the fork has new fork legs, bushings and oil seals, the "Jampot" shock absorbers are refurbished with new bushings and oil seals, the engine has new main bearings, cam lifters, valves/guides. Piston and crank bearings are in good condition. The monobloc carburettor is refurbished with an oversized throttle. The gearbox has new bearings and seals. The Lucas Racing magneto gives a good spark so the Matchless always starts on the first kick. The gear ratio has been increased to 5.8:1 which is the same as a standard 350cc Matchless motorcycle, G3L. The trial gear ratio is 6.56:1. It has a very pleasant engine running, at idle it runs like a steam engine. It runs great on the gravel road, it is a perfect bike for the vintage rally. It cruises nicely at 70-80 km/h. The Matchless is MOT tested and ready to be ridden on the road.
