Here is a splendid, matching numbers 1930 Norton Model 18 with its original brown logbook confirming matching number status and just 5 owners from new. The original UK registration number from 1931 is still with the motorcycle.
The Model 18 was the sporting Model from Norton from 1923 and onwards. The 500cc OHV engine was fast and reliable for its time and coupled with efficient brakes, success for Norton on the road and in races was inevitable.
The 1930 Model 18 was an intermediate model combining the tried and tested engine layout of the 1920s with magneto/dynamo situated in front of the engine and the elegant, longer saddle tank introduced in 1929. 1930 would be the last yar with this configuration.
This 1930 Norton Model 18 is an older, and very thorough restoration done in the early 2000s. All work has been done with great attention to detail: All original tinware, original Webb front fork, original Sturmey Archer CS gearbox, original Lucas magdyno, original Lucas H52 headlight, original Enfield rear hub and Horton front hub, original cast alloy magneto cover and primary chain case, original saddle tanks in leather and the list goes on.
The Norton remains in beautiful condition and has formed part of a collection of quality motorcycles since 2007. It is mechanically spot on with very good compression but will need light recommissioning (fresh petrol/oil/new battery) before taking to the road again.
This is a superb, vintage Norton Model 18, rarely seen this correct, and just stunning to ride and admire.
Comes with current UK V5, the original brown log book and all EU import duties payed for registration in EU.
